BARRE – Leroy Malcolm Graham, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.

Born on August 20, 1944, in Calais, he was the son of Malcolm and Emma (James) Graham.  He attended Groton Village School and went on to graduate from Groton High School in 1962.  Following his schooling, Leroy enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1968.

During his long career, Leroy worked at Sprague Electric in Barre, Central Vermont Medical Center as a Night Watchman, then as an electrician for the Bombardier Corporation at both their Barre, VT and Plattsburgh, NY plants. He finally took a position as night custodian at the Barre City Elementary and Middle School until his retirement in April 2021.

Throughout his life, Leroy had many interests including hunting, fishing, classic tractors, watching Red Sox baseball and Celtics basketball, and practicing natural healthcare.

He is survived by his son Malcolm Graham of Barre; his sisters Mirla Davison and her husband, Carlton of Barre, and Pam Thurston and her husband, Andy of Ryegate, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister June Eckert; his nephew Chad Davison; his great-nephew Justin Roberts, and his nephews George and Ron Graham.

A service to honor and celebrate Leroy’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Groton Methodist Church, U.S. Route 302 in Groton.  Burial will follow in the Groton Village Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the White River Junction VA Medical Center for Dev and Civic Engagement/Voluntary Service (135), 215 North Main Street, White River Junction, VT 05009.  Make checks payable to “WRJ VA”. Or a contribution to any organization that helps veterans (such as Wounded Warriors).
