BARRE – Leroy T. Chase, 76, of Summer Street passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born October 10, 1941 in Barre City, Leroy was the son of Thomas Byrd and Marion (Sanborn) Chase. He attended elementary school in East Barre and Adamant before moving to Bristol, CT.
He was married to Margaret Chase for twenty-six years and they made their home in Bristol, CT. Margaret passed away in 1996. Leroy moved back to Vermont and made his home in Barre.
While in Connecticut, Leroy worked in manufacturing. In Vermont, he was employed by Larry Hebert Excavation until his retirement.
Leroy as a member of the East Barre Congregational Church, a lifetime member of the Canadian Club of Barre and a twenty-seven-year member of the Moose Club.
In his spare time, Leroy enjoyed playing cribbage and pitch as well as hunting, fishing, bowling and socializing.
Survivors include numerous step-children in Bristol, CT; his siblings Donna Ingham of Rochester; Richard Chase and his wife, Marlene of Middlesex; Kathleen Towsley and her husband, Elbert of St. Albans; Janet Chase of East Barre; and Russell Chase of Berlin.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Roger Chase in 2007 and his sister Sheila Fordham in 2013.
A potluck to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 in the Canadian Club of Barre, 414 East Montpelier Road, Barre, VT. There are no calling hours.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at the Barre Gardens and the Central Vermont Medical Center for their exceptional care of Leroy.
