BARRE TOWN - Kim Randall Morrow passed away surrounded by his spouse and children in the comfort of his home on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Kim was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 3, 1954, the second of four sons to Robert and Lee (Bickell) Morrow. When he was a year old, his family moved to central Vermont, where he lived for the rest of his life.
Kim was an avid skier (until his knees gave out), growing up in a family that spent many happy hours skiing, usually at Stowe Mountain. He loved fishing, mostly on Lake Morey in early days, and on rivers and streams later in life. He and Tracey loved spending time in the Northeast Kingdom, seeking out – and often finding – beautiful brookie habitat. It really did not matter if he caught anything; the hours spent in the peaceful woods along a brook were some of his most contented times. He also enjoyed fishing the upper Connecticut, the Winooski, and the White River, which he considered to be among the most beautiful stretches of river in Vermont. There was an ongoing lighthearted competition over the years, with Kim admittedly catching the most trout overall and the largest rainbow, and Tracey bagging the biggest brown and brookie. Kim also loved deer hunting and was a proud member of Vermont’s prestigious 200 Club. While he wasn’t always successful with the white tail bucks later in life, he genuinely enjoyed spending hunting season with his hunting buddies. The stories from those seasons will live on for years, no doubt. Kim also loved music, in most forms, but 70’s classic rock was his favorite. He enjoyed attending concerts and music festivals (usually with The Festers, as they became known), from Burlington, to Montreal, in Boston, Saratoga, Bethlehem, and – of course – the White Mountain Boogie and Blues Festival every August.
Kim was tremendously proud of Karlie and Kurt and considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest achievement in life. The memory of the sound of his laughter while playing with his girls is something we will treasure forever.
Kim spent 44 years serving as Chief of Design for E.F. Wall construction company in Barre and belonged to several local service, civil, and social clubs over the years. In his downtime, he loved hunting and fishing - as mentioned above, playing cribbage and cards (mostly pitch), and spending time with his family and fantastic circle of friends.
Kim’s quiet wit, quick mind and intelligence, and calm, gentle demeanor made him an easy person to be around. He will be sorely missed by all who know him.
Kim is survived by his wife Tracey; daughter Karlie Mackenzie and husband Nick; son Kurt and wife Mendeil Bailey; four grandchildren: Pepper, Gigi, Ireland and Tierney and great-grandson Kenai; his brother Craig (Chris); two nephews, Kyle and Kevin Morrow; Karin Morrow, the mother of his children; and many good friends.
Kim was predeceased by his mother and father, and his brothers Jim and Scott.
A funeral will be held at the Church of the Good Shepard in Barre on Thursday, October 16, at 11 a.m., followed by a gathering for friends and family at the Elks Club in Barre. Please bring your best stories and sit with us for a while. Sharing happy memories always helps ease the pain of loss. A private burial in Hope Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org/donate. When people would mention how awful his illness was, Kim would frequently tell them the St. Jude’s ads reminded him how fortunate he was to have had the life he did, a full life that many of those children would never have the chance to live.
