BARRE TOWN – Kim P. Johnson, 81, of Sunrise Road passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at his home.
Born on March 1, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of Carl and Eva (Parks) Johnson. He graduated from Hamden High School in Connecticut.
In 1972 he moved from Connecticut to Vermont, settling in Waterbury.
On September 2, 1975, he married Karen Benedini in Waterbury, where they made their home until they moved to Barre in 1976.
Kim worked as a phone installer for AT&T after moving to Vermont until 1977 when he joined his father-in-law Ezio Benedini with his business E. Benedini Artesian Well Company. Kim and his wife purchased the business in 1982, and operated it until 2010, when their son purchased the business. Kim continued to work in the business until he retired in 2022, which was a hard decision for him as he had so much pride in his business and loved working.
His memberships included the Vermont Well Driller’s Association and the Canadian Club of Barre.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening at home and planting all kinds of plants, as well as remodeling the house. But most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and his many pets over the years.
Survivors include his wife Karen Johnson, his children Keith Johnson and Kelly Johnson Heath and her husband, Burt, and his grandchildren Casey and Hunter, all of Barre, as well as his family in Connecticut.
In addition to his parents and parents-in-law, he was predeceased by his brother Carl Johnson.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of his family.
