ORANGE – Kenneth W. Farnham, Jr., 86, a former long-term resident of Barre, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Central Vermont Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born on January 27, 1939, in Barre City, he was the son of Kenneth W. and Irene B. (Prescott) Farnham, Sr. He attended local elementary schools and graduated in 1957.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served from 1957 until 1962, when he was honorably discharged.
On June 13, 1989, he married Nancy Martin in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre.
Ken was employed by the Barre City Water Department from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. In his spare time, he enjoyed haying, maple sugaring, hunting, snow plowing, working always – hardly ever found him at rest although when you did, he was enjoying time spent with his dog, Muffin sitting on the couch, and most of all he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Farnham; his children Nicholas Farnham; Pamela Farnham; Jennifer Farnham and her fiance, Josh; Michael Farnham and his wife, Wendy; and Ann Marie Farnham; his grandchildren Kaelynn, Tristin, Therin, JJ, Kenzlei, Pozei, Cori, Craig, Michael, and Jordan; his great-grandchildren Evan and Ariana; his son-in-law Shane; his brotherin-law Lester “Blinky” Bean; and his sister-in-law Kristine Martin as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Betty Jean Bean and Donna Holden and her husband, Joe Holden.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday June 30, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Following the service, inurnment will take place in the Berlin Corner Cemetery in Berlin. There are no calling hours.
