BERLIN – Kenneth Allan Adams, 82, of Upper Hill Street Ext., passed away surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Rowan Court Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barre. He battled numerous health conditions over the past several years, including 4 years of dialysis. His sister Sandra Clark also remained close by his side as did his daughter and granddaughters of Florida.
Kenneth was born on July 23, 1934 in Montpelier, he was the son of Kenneth G. and Evelyn (Stewart) Adams. Kenneth attended East Montpelier Graded School and attended Montpelier High School as part of the class of 1953. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 12 ½ years in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
On August 21, 1970, Kenneth married the love of his life, Jacqueline Bissonnette in Berlin.
He was employed at Hutch Concrete for several years. While on the job, he was injured and lost four of his fingers. Kenneth held other jobs throughout his life which included 16 years of employment at the U. S. Post Offices in Barre and Montpelier. He was also employed as a local school bus driver. Kenneth became a member of the Catholic Church in 2010. His memberships included the Canadian Club, the VFW Post 792, and the American Legion Post #3, both of Montpelier.
In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, farming, bird watching, hunting, gardening, motorcycling, back road rides, talking on the phone and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was a jokester and lover of life bringing laughter and smiles to those around him. His most famous joke being “Don’t squeeze my fingers”. Kenneth was a hardworking, honest, reliable and sincere man who will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Adams, of Berlin; his daughters, Maureen Adams and her partner, Ron Lackey, of Stowe, Tammy Cookson of Cabot, and Jody Fewer and her husband, Jaime, of Barre Town; and his son Andrew Adams and his wife, Karen, of Cabot; his six grandchildren, Brock Cookson of Cabot, Spencer, Camryn, Julia and Seth Fewer of Barre Town, and Emma Adams of Cabot, also great-grandson ,Carter Morse, of Williamstown; as well as his daughter Nancy McLanely of Florida and her daughters, Karissa Wright and her children Kaden and Channer, and Lindsay Ermy and her husband, Danny, of Florida; his sister Sandra Clark of Barre Town; a sister-in-law ,Thanna Adams, of Berlin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Vaughn Adams, a sister Brenda Bashaw and her husband, Art; his brother-in-law Frank Clark; and a grandson Logan Cookson .
Kenneth’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Monica Catholic Church on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Berlin Corner Cemetery at the convenience of the family in the spring.
