Kay F. Erff

WILLIAMSTOWN – Kay Frances (Sample) Erff, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at home with her family at her bedside.

Born on January 6, 1937, in Barre, she was the daughter of William E. and Harriet M. (Emery) Sample.  She attended local elementary schools and graduated from Williamstown High School in 1954.

On November 9, 1957, she married Lenny Erff in the Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford, Connecticut, where they made their home before moving to Williamstown, Vermont.  Lenny passed away in February of 2013.

Kay was employed by the State of Vermont, working in the Barre-Montpelier Unemployment Office until her retirement.

She was a member of the St. Edward’s Church in Williamstown.

Survivors include her daughters Lori Erff Gardner (Scott) and Linda Erff Beaudet (Mark), three grandchildren Graham Gardner, Kyle Gardner, and Taylor Beaudet,  and her brother Richard Sample as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lenny Erff, and her siblings Madeline Joyal, Shirley Bernier, Ruth Beaton, Harriet Leclair, Douglas Sample, William Sample, James Sample, and George Sample

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and honor her life will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre.  Following the service, interment will take place in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville.  There are no calling hours.
