WASHINGTON – Karen A. Spooner, 61, of MacDonald Road passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Jack Byrnes Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH with her family at her bedside.
Born on February 24, 1962, she was the daughter of John and Nancy (Cornish) Kuzmik. Karen attended and graduated from U 32 High School.
In 1990, she fell in love with Brent Holmes and they later married. Following their marriage, they made their home in Washington.
Karen was employed as an Administrative Service Coordinator with the Vermont Agency of Transportation. In her spare time, she enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to the Tunbridge Fair and letting off the annual fireworks show. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Brent Holmes; her sons Steven Spooner and his wife, Wendy and Tyler Spooner and his wife, Nicole; her grandchildren Michael, Owen, Isabelle, Abigail, and MacKenzie Spooner and Kaden and Trey Luster; her father John Kuzmik; and her sisters Kay Kuzmik and her partner Jeff Shirlock, Cassandra Kuzmik, Cathy McDonald, and Robin Stevens and her partner John Pulsifer as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother Nancy Stevens and her sister Kim Kuzmik.
The graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Washington. Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the graveside service in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, PO Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601.
Karen’s family would like to thank the staff at the Jack Byrnes Center for the excellent care that she received while she was there.
