EAST BARRE – Karen Ann Robbins, 67, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester with her family at her side.
Born on October 21,1958, in Barre City, she was the daughter of James and Ruth Robbins, Jr. She attended elementary school in Orange and graduated from Spaulding High School as part of the Class of 1976. She was a resident of East Barre for over 26 years.
Karen was employed with the State of Vermont, Agency of Natural Resources. Working for the State for nearly 49 years, she started at the D.M.V. in April of 1977, before joining A.N.R in January of 1980. She will be dearly missed, as she worked at the front desk of the agency for many years.
Karen was deeply moved when she was presented with a certificate and a Vermont State Flag that was flown at the State Capital on December 3, 2025, in honor of her outstanding dedication and service to the State of Vermont.
Karen loved spending time outdoors, kayaking, hiking, taking rides, and seeing the full moon rise. She enjoyed checking out old cemeteries, and late-night walks with Richard. Many evenings you could find her enjoying family around a fire pit.
Survivors include her parents James W. Robbins, Jr. and Ruth E. Robbins (Jackman) of Orange; her sisters Diane Bisson and her husband, John (JB) of Orange; Shirley Metcalf and her husband, George of Barre Town; and Marie Lamberti and her husband Jack (P-nut) of West Topsham; and her Cherished niece Ashley Rennie and her husband, Mike. Karen shared her life with her devoted ‘Loved One” Richard Langevin for 28 years.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Laurance and Elsie Jackman and James and Doris Robbins, Sr.
The service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 249 Airport Road, Barre. There are no calling hours. Inurnment will take place in the Brook Haven Cemetery with a Celebration of Life following at a date and time to be announced in the Spring.
