BARRE CITY - June Mary Jorgensen, 86, of North Main Street passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Barre Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Barre City.

She was born on August 9, 1932 in Burlington, Vermont.   June grew up and attended school in Groton, Vermont, high school class of 1949, where she received two All State awards for basketball. On October 24, 1952, she married Herbert Jorgensen at the Groton United Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they have since resided in Barre.

In her younger years, she worked at Sprague Electric and as a bookkeeper for Barre Sign Company. She enjoyed antique collecting and refinishing and could often be found rummaging around dusty attics and barns.  She spent time with her family at their camp on Lake Elmore during the summer and after retirement, winters in Naples, Florida.

She is survived by her husband Herbert Jorgensen, daughter Susan Jorgensen, sisters Carol Blanchard and Signa Braman, and brother David Dickey.  June was predeceased by her parents Ethel and Everett Dickey; daughter Lesley Jorgensen; sisters Beverly Frost and Dixie Dickey, and brothers George Dickey and Reginald Morse.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 10:00 am at Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Inurnment will follow in the Hope Cemetery in Barre City. There are no calling hours.
