BARRE – Judith Ann Perkins, 84, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the University of Vermont Medical Center with family by her side.
Born on July 21, 1941, in Barre, she was the daughter of Oliver (“Midge”) and Beverly (Sanderson) Rossi. She attended elementary school in Graniteville and after moving to Barre, graduated from Spaulding High School in 1959.
On August 5, 1965, she married Donald Perkins in Barre. They lived for many years on Maplewood Ave in Barre until Donald’s passing in 2005.
Judy worked in many places throughout the years as an administrative assistant including Energy Solutions and the Barre Congregational Church. She worked for the State of Vermont for many years and ultimately was a grants manager for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program until her retirement in 2005.
Judy enjoyed reading, bird watching, cribbage, and TV competition shows like Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, and American Idol. She also enjoyed watching golf and college basketball and played a bracket every year. She relished spending time with family and friends and loved her time at her favorite place in the world, Lake Groton.
Survivors include her children Brian Perkins of Barre City, and Lynn Perkins Ryan and her husband Russel of Colchester; her sisters-in-law Jean Perkins Abel and her husband Fred of Virginia and Yuma, AZ and Connie Rossi of Boulder, CO; a brother-in-law Richard Perkins and his wife Jane of North Grafton MA; nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews and fur babies Ollie and Kiri.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald, and her brothers Alan and Mark Rossi.
Judy wished to send a special mention for two people that were very important to her in her life: Marcia Soutar, a dear best friend since high school and her neighbor Diana Gray, who went above and beyond to tirelessly take Mom to many appointments in her last years and was a shoulder to lean on.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours. There will be a celebration of life for Judy next summer at Lake Groton
