Judith P. Thomas

EAST CALAIS, VT – Judith Poulin Thomas, 72, of Vermont Route 14 died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Jill, where she had recently moved. Her family was at her bedside.
Born August 17, 1943, in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of Harold and Rose (Croteau) Poulin and was a graduate of Windsor Locks, CT High School in 1961.
She was first married to Thomas A. Stroiney, making their home in Enfield, CT. They later divorced.
In 1983, she married Minor W. Thomas III, making their home in Aurora, IL. They are divorced.
While living in Enfield, CT she was employed as a Dispatcher for the Enfield Police Department.
Later she worked as a Municipal Dispatcher for the City of Aurora.
Judith enjoyed riverboat gambling, bingo playing, lap blanket crocheting gifts for nursing homes, line dancing, Senior Center volunteering in Aurora, IL and assisting immigrants in Income Tax preparation and had been a long-time member of the Women of the Moose, also in Aurora.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Jill M. Stroiney, and her life partner Walter White, both of East Calais, and Sally Stroiney-Russell and her husband, William, of Weymouth, MA; six grandchildren Chardonnay, Grayson and Natalie Lavigne and Alec, Maya, and August Russell; her brother, James Poulin and his wife, Sue, of Casco, ME and their family as well as her beloved kitty, “Wendy”.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The service to honor Judith’s life will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre, VT.
Interment will follow in the Eaton Cemetery in Marshfield, VT.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
