SALISBURY - Joyce Ann (Gardner) Cameron, 73, while residing at Woodridge Nursing Home, left the hands and tore the hearts of her family and loved ones as she stepped into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus, on January 3 rd , 2018.

Joyce was the daughter of the late Clarence and Jean (Ward) Gardner. She was born in New York, NY on October 15 th , 1944. Joyce graduated from Valhalla High School, (NY) in 1963 and later from O’Brien’s school of Cosmetology in Burlington, VT. After a few years as a hairdresser, Joyce operated a shop from her home in Salisbury, while raising her family until 1986. She began work for the Town of Salisbury as Clerk and retired from the City Clerk’s office in Vergennes in 2006. After retirement, she gave of her time at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Addison County in Middlebury.

Mom loved the Lord, her family and friends; enjoyed laughter, flowers, feeding the birds, and gardening. She vacationed on the coast of Maine for many years and loved the ocean, lighthouses, collecting shells, and walking the beach or reading a good book nearby. We said a long goodbye while she lived with fronto-temporal dementia for the last five years, but even in that she loved life and lived it well; giving back to those who knew her and met her. She was always quick with a smile and a sparkle in the eye.

Joyce is survived by her children that include her daughter Barbara Pine and her husband Ken of Holland, VT, daughter Kim LaCount and her husband Brian of Moretown, son John LaFountaine of Moriah, NY, son Chris LaFountaine of Addison, son Gabriel Cameron and his wife Karen of Salisbury, and daughter Jeannie Tucker and her husband Kaillum of Maddison, WI, as well as fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her brother James Gardner and his partner Terri Cutrone-Donnelly of Danbury, CT, sister Margaret Heartsong and her husband Robert of Parker Dam, CA, sister Marian Reynolds and her husband William of Brewster, NY, sister Kathy Gardner of Redding, CT, and brother John Gardner and his partner Joan Pulver of Brewster, NY along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, and sister, Barbara O’Boyle of Danbury CT.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place later this summer in Vergennes, VT.
