BARRE CITY – Josephine Pedroli Zampieri, 101, a long-time resident of Nelson Street, died early Wednesday morning, March 25, 2015 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. Her family had been at her bedside.
Born June 4, 1913 in Barre City, she was the daughter of Peter and Carrie (Frattini) Pedroli. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in the class of 1931.
On June 27, 1934, she married Libero Zampieri in East Montpelier. Following their marriage they made their home in Barre City, moving to their present home on Nelson Street in 1942 with Libero’s death occurring on May 26, 2001. Josie made her home there for 72 years.
Following her high school graduation she worked for her uncle, Louis Frattini, Sr., at the former Frattini Insurance Agency for 3 years.
She enjoyed tole painting on antique tin ware, rug hooking, needlework, and crocheting, playing bridge and pitch, Italian cooking, playing golf and will be remembered for her beautiful handwriting.
Her memberships included the Hedding United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women where she had been an active communicant and member, the former Ruth Chapter #33 OES, Barre Women’s Club, Green Mountain Rug Hooking Craft Guild, the former Barre City Hospital Auxiliary and the Central Vermont Hospital Auxiliary and the Barre Country Club.
Survivors include her son, Robert Zampieri and his wife, Nancy, of Charlotte, North Carolina and daughters Roberta Blake and her husband, Paul, of Canton, Massachusetts, and Sandra Lunde and her husband, Henry, of Placida, Florida and Stowe, Vermont; grandchildren Paula Doucette and her husband, Dan; Susan Lazarus and John Blake and his wife, Kelly; Eric Lunde; Sonja Lunde and her husband, John Hill, and Kurt Lunde and his wife, Vincenza, and 6 great grandchildren Blake, Colin, Riley, Ethan, Gia, and Layla and her nephew, Michael Lastra, of Springfield, Pennsylvania.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Libero, and her sister, Leonilda Locke.
Josie’s life will be honored and celebrated on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in her church, Hedding United Methodist, on Washington Street.
Interment will follow in the Hope Cemetery in Barre City.
