MOULTONBOROUGH, NH - John E. Saylor, 85, formerly of Milford Township and East Greenville, PA passed away Sunday July 24, 2016, at Physicians Regional Hospital in Naples, FL. He was the widower of Janice (Bartlett) Saylor.
Born in Allentown, PA in 1931 he was the son of Elmer R. and Enola (Unger) Saylor. John was a graduate of William Allen High School in Allentown, PA and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New Haven, CT.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Army's 1st Calvary Division. John was the owner of the Weather-Vane Restaurant in Pennsburg, PA and an employee of Merck Pharmaceuticals in West Point, PA for 28 years until he retired in 1992.
John was an avid runner, skier, and fisherman. A member of the Merck milers he enjoyed running in both 10K and marathon races in Philadelphia, New York and Boston.
Survivors include his son Jeffrey Saylor and his wife, Maureen, and his grandchildren Nicholas and Noelle Saylor.
The graveside memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre, VT
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
