GRANITEVILLE - John W. “Jack” Bagalio, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin following a long illness.
Born on October 16, 1938, in Websterville, Vermont, he was the son of Paul and Mildred Bagalio. Jack graduated from Spaulding High School in 1958.
On August 22, 1959, he married Elinor “Ellie” Bishop. Following their marriage, they settled in Barre where Jack was employed by Dessureau Machines Inc. for 42 years before his retirement in 2001.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack spent his free time hunting and fishing the mountains and streams of Vermont. Camping and hiking became the family vacation of choice during the summers and fall. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice fishing took over during the winter months. In later years Jack and Ellie enjoyed spending their summers at a camp they bought on the shore of Lake Champlain in Alburgh.
Jack was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and a life member of Bishop Brady Council #399 Knights of Columbus in Barre.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Elinor “Ellie” Bagalio, of Graniteville, his son Greg Bagalio of Virginia, his daughter Sharon Bagalio of Maine, and his son Chris Bagalio of New Hampshire, his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sisters Irene and Paula Bagalio, both of California and Rita Roy of Barre and his brother Daniel Bagalio, also of Barre.
Also included as family would be his many close and dear friends and former coworkers, all of whom held a special place in his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held at a date and time to be announced in the Spring of 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at http://fundraising.stjude.org/goto/Jack_Bagalio_memorial_fund
