Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN – It is with great sorrow that the Farnham family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, husband, and father, Jeremy “Jerf” Farnham, 40, tragically lost his life in a snowmobile accident on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Born on April 21, 1983, he was the son of Robert “Boomer” and Charlene (Duff) Farnham.  Jeremy was the first of two children, including his younger sister, Jenner.  Jeremy and his family grew up in the town of Washington, where they all planted deep roots to town involvement in the future.

Jeremy attended Washington Village School and graduated from Chelsea High School in 2001.

Nearly everyone in Central Vermont had come across “Jerf” at some point in time.  Whether it be him doing property maintenance, tent rentals, setting up sugar woods, or snow blowing the Barre Town sidewalks in his signature John Deere.

Known for his myriad of verbal animal calls, dance moves and random “Jerfisms”, he could bring joy and positivity to any situation.

A jack of many trades with a work ethic like no other, Jeremy started his own property maintenance business at the young age of 13, Jerf’s Lawn Care, later to become Jerf’s Lawn Care and Tent Rentals as he added yet another business to his arsenal.  Not long after, he began snow blowing the Barre Town sidewalks during the winter and worked in all things sugaring.

His loves in life included creating countless cherished memories with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, maple sugaring, riding side-by-sides and snowmobiling.  He was an active member in the community, always willing to help and donate in any way possible.

Jeremy was a 24-year member and current Captain of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Vice President of the Washington Snow Flyers.

Survivors include his wife, Crystal and their two children Taylan and Ryan Farnham of Williamstown; his father Robert “Boomer” Farnham and sister Jennifer “Jenner” Farnham both of Washington; his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Gaye Lincoln of Brookfield; and his brother-in-law Levi Pombar and his wife, Britney along with their two children Wyatt and Hadley, of Brookfield as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Charlene Farnham, his uncles Raymond, Freddy and Harold Duff, Kevin Farnham, Joseph Grimard and James Black, and his aunt Beth Farnham, as well as his grandparents Wayne and Josephine Farnham and Francis and Emma Duff.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Canadian Club of Barre, 414 East Montpelier Road, Barre, VT.  There are no calling hours.   Zoom link for the service:  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86969536362?pwd=0wkSzfBhdH0lBcjb1zZjUCRoXFnijw.1
