ORANGE – Jean M. Peatman Constantine Theobald, 94, a longtime resident of Reservoir Road, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at her home.

Born on December 29, 1929, in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Eszlari) Peatman. Jean attended elementary schools in Waterbury, Fayston, Stowe and Montpelier. She then went on to graduate from St. Michael’s High School in 1948. In that same year, Jean won the Miss Vermont Beauty Pageant. Making her the oldest remaining Miss Vermont.

Following her schooling, Jean worked as a dental assistant for seven years, in a boutique shop for 12 years and then went on to be an insurance lobbyist for over twenty years.

In 1954, she married Francis Constantine. The two made their home in Montpelier and Orange, where they raised their two wonderful children. Francis passed away in 1984. In 1987, Jean married Brian Theobald and they stayed together until the time of her passing, dividing their time between Orange and Titusville, Florida.

Survivors include her husband Brian Theobald of Titusville, Florida; her daughter Jean Constantine of Kenosha, Wisconsin; her son Jaime Constantine of South Ryegate, Vermont; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Francis and her brother Walter Peatman.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Jeans life will be held in the Brookhaven Cemetery in Orange at a time to be announced.
