MARSHFIELD – Jean E. Codling, 82, of Maple Hill Road passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

Born May 20, 1934 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Grover) Thibault.

Jean attended elementary and high schools in Springfield, MA and was a member of the class of 1952.

On August 21, 1954 she married Walter Codling at the Holy Cross Church in Springfield, MA. Following their marriage they made their home in Massachusetts until 1970 when they moved to Marshfield. Walter passed away in May 1995.

Jean was a homemaker and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and their families, as well as taking trips to Maine, knitting and going camping.  She was of catholic faith and prayed every night for her loved ones.

Survivors include her sons, Paul Codling and his wife, Kathy of Marshfield; David Codling and his wife, Marie of Barre; and Joseph Codling of Marshfield; grandchildren Brooklyn, Ethan, and Zachary; sisters-in-law Jo-Ann Joubert and Kathie Thibault; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Walter Codling, son Peter Codling, and Brother Norman Thibault.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier. There are no calling hours.
