BERLIN – Janet B. Foster, 86, of Berlin Mall Road, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, with her family at her bedside.
Born on September 15, 1937, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of Clayton L. and Doris E. (Austin) Bartlett. She attended elementary school in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School.
On August 8, 1959, she married Randolph Foster in the Grace United Methodist Church in Plainfield. Following their marriage, they made their home in Plainfield and Barre. Randolph passed away on August 24, 2002.
Janet was employed by the National Life Insurance Company and Goddard College before joining the staff at the Vermont League of Cities and Towns as an Administrative Assistant.
She was a member of the Hedding Methodist Church in Barre. She also served on the Central Vermont Medical Center Auxiliary Board and was a volunteer with the Benefit Shop and the American Red Cross.
In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and Celtics games, knitting, and playing BINGO as well as going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include her son Greg Foster (Lori) and her daughter Lori Bailey (Kevin), all of Barre; her grandchildren Nicholas (Cindy) Foster, Jeremy (Valerie Bigglestone) Foster, Katelyn Foster, Bryna (Patrick) Sikora, Frank Bailey, Abbi (Robert) Russ, Zoe (Forrest) Smith; her great-grandchildren Hailee, Clayton, Cooper, Jackson, Bentley, Matthew, Grace, Mila and Lily; her brother Bruce Bartlett (Theresa) of Plainfield and her brother-in-law Elwin Griffith of Barre as well as several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Randolph Foster and her sister Anita Richardson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice as well as the staff of Chestnut Place for their care during her illness.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
