SOUTH BARRE – Jane Evelyn Morgan, 77, a longtime resident of Seager Lane, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.
Born on August 17, 1942 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Wright) Wallace. She attended elementary school in Barre Town and graduated from Spaulding High School 1960. During high school she worked as a waitress at the Howard Johnsons on the Barre-Montpelier Road in Berlin.
On July 1, 1965, Jane married Donald Morgan in Moretown. The two made their home in South Barre where they raised their daughter Melissa. Donald passed away in 2013.
In 1985, Jane went to work at the Kid Country Daycare, National Life’s daycare center, where she worked in the infant room until 1997 when medical complications made it so she was no longer able to do so.
Throughout her life, Jane regularly attended the Barre Congregational Church as well as NA and AA, where she made many close lifelong friends.
Jane had many hobbies and interests, the most important of those included listening to country music, going out dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, spending Sunday afternoons at Country Music “Jam Sessions” and listening to the Top 100 Country Music Countdown, and especially spending time with her beloved dog “Jake”.
Survivors include her daughter Melissa Colson and her husband, Stacey, of Braintree, as well as three grandsons Joshua Smith of South Barre, Devin Sherman of Waterbury and Anson Sherman of Barre.
She was predeceased by her parents.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jane’s life will be held on a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Jane’s name may be made to Project Independence, 81 North Main Street, Barre, VT 05641.
