MARSHFIELD – Jane W. Bickford, 83, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the home of Timothy and Raylene Codling in Berlin where she had been lovingly taken care of the last years of her life.
Jane was born on May 12, 1933 in Montpelier, she was the daughter of John D. and Neva (Amidon) Welch. She made her home in Worcester with her younger sister, Ellen, until the family moved to Indiana and later Maryland, her father managing farms in those two states.
After her mother died, the family returned to Vermont and Jane attended school in Northfield, while living with her grandparents and graduated from Northfield High School. She then attended the University of Vermont for further schooling where she met Harry Bickford, they were later married in Burlington. After their marriage they moved to Orange, CT where she ultimately took a job with Enthone and was with the company for over 25 years. Jane and her husband took great enjoyment in camping and spent the occasional weekend or week traveling to various campgrounds in and around Connecticut. Jane continued camping after the death of her husband in 1982.
Jane is survived by her sisters, Ellen Codling of Marshfield, Hilda Blackburn of North Carolina, and Carole Moritz of Colorado; her brother Bryce Lyndes of Arizona and their families; as well as her sister Ellen’s children, Cresswell, Timothy, Sarah and their families.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the convenience of the family.
