EAST BARRE – James Edgar Mathieu, 59, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his residence and the home of his caregivers, Mark Forgette and Sherla Melendy of Phil Street.
Born on February 18, 1957 in Burlington, he was the son of Arlene Edith (Germaine) Mathieu.
James was disabled since birth, but never lacked in love and affection.
James attended Brandon Training School and later Washington County Mental Health. Since 1993, he has resided with his caregivers Mark and Sherla.
He enjoyed being outside, going for car rides and interacting with others. He especially loved to give hugs and “fist bumps”.
Survivors include his three brothers, Gary Mathieu, Kenneth Mathieu, and Randy Mathieu; four sisters, Sandy Burns, Joyce Laderbush, Laurie Streeter, and Donna Maynard; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother; stepfather, Ray Menard; and a sister, Sue Blaisdell.
His memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Websterville Baptist Church. Interment will be in the East Cemetery in Williston. There are no calling hours. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the church.
