Iole I. Carusi

BARRE – Iole I. Carusi, 105, a lifelong resident of Barre, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Lincoln House on Hill Street in Barre.
Born December 29, 1910 in Barre, she was the daughter of Eugenio and Eva (Bertoli) Carusi. She attended Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in the Class of 1928.
From 1928 to 1948, Iole worked at the C. W. Averill Company in Barre. She went on to work in the law department of National Life Insurance Company in Montpelier, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Barre where she was on the altar guild and the Episcopal Church’s Women. Her other memberships included the Ruth Chapter 33 OES, the Friends of the Aldrich Library, the former Barre Women’s Club, the Barre Area Senior Center and was an active volunteer in her community.
Iole enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad and was fond of opera and the classics. She took pleasure in reading, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a nephew, Kenneth Carusi, of Edneyville, NC; three nieces, Constance Hruby of Victorville, CA, Arlene Carusi of Potomac Falls, VA and Wendy Boeglen of Elizabethtown, KY and her cousin, Sandra Collins of Barre, VT. Her siblings, Ugo Carusi, Eugene Carusi, Eda Corsi, and Olga Valli predeceased her.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Barre. Interment will take place in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
