BARRE - Inabelle Peake, 102, a longtime Barre resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Woodridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

Born on February 10, 1922, in Websterville, she was the daughter of John and Inabelle (Wallace) McPike. She attended school in the Barre Area.

On Tuesday, January 18, 1949, Inabelle married the love of her life, Nelson Peake in a ceremony held in Barre. The two made their home in Barre Town where they raised their daughter. Nelson passed away in 1974.

Her working career began as the manager of the Dairy Bar at Real Ice Cream until their closure. She then went on to at Whelan Drug Store and finally at Brooks Drugs until her retirement at the age of 79.

Inabelle loved attending her two granddaughters’ softball games, watching the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox on TV, and in later years doing word searches and coloring.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia Aja and her husband, Dennis; two granddaughters Angela Armour and her husband, Joshua and Amanda Simcock and her husband, Daniel as well as three great-grandchildren Addyson Simcock and Gillian and Hayley Armour and five nieces.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Ara Murphy and her brother Edward McPike as well as two nieces.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre.
