WASHINGTON – Ida Marion MacDonald, 92, a long-time resident, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at her home.

Born August 11, 1926 in West Topsham, she was the daughter of Urban and Emma (King) Shover. Ida attended West Topsham School.

On October 17, 1947 she married Bruce MacDonald. They later divorced.

Ida worked for many years in the environmental services department at the former Central Vermont Hospital before retiring.   In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cross stitch and going berry picking. Most of all, she adored spending time with her children, and many grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Faye Murphy, Sharon Lafley, and Paula Driscoll; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her sisters Irma Joyal, and Doris Jesseman.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Emily Herrity, Margaret Dexter, Freda Danforth, Barbara Emerson and her brother Howard Shover.

Per her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will take place in the Maple Hill Cemetery in the spring at the convenience of the family.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre assisted the MacDonald family with the arrangements.
