WEST TOPSHAM – Hilda P. Williams, 96, of Batten Road passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on July 24, 1924 in West Topsham, she was the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Magoon) Smith. She attended school in West Topsham.
On April 6, 1941 she married Harold “Red” Williams, in a ceremony in Fairlee, VT. The two made their home in West Topsham where they ran a dairy farm for many years and raised four wonderful children. Even while working on the farm, Hilda was most importantly a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. Harold and Hilda were married for 70 great years until his passing in 2011.
She had many hobbies and interests throughout her life. The ones most dear to her were working in her gardens, enjoying the outdoors, raising, and caring for her beloved Herefords, and spending time with her family and friends. She will also always be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her baked beans, pies, and doughnuts.
Survivors include her son Wayne Williams, Sr., and her daughter Donna Corliss, both of West Topsham; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother Phillip Smith, Sr. and his wife, Janice of West Topsham as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Harold, her sons Kenneth and Douglas Williams, one brother, four sisters, and her daughter-in-law.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Hilda’s life will be held in the West Topsham Cemetery in the Spring.
