BARRE – Herbert C. Watson, Jr., 84, of Cardinal Circle passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Barre Gardens Nursing Home in Barre.
Born February 11, 1936 in Barre, he was the son of Herbert C. and Marion (Howard) Watson, Sr. Herbert attended South Barre Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1954. Following high school, he graduated from Lyndon State Teachers College in 1958 and then went on to graduate from UVM with a master’s degree in education in 1970.
After college, he became a teacher with the Washington Village School before working at the Barre Town Elementary School for thirty-six years.
Herbert attended the Barre Universalist Church and was a Sunday School teacher there.
Survivors include his sister Nancy Royce of South Barre; his sister Brenda Pinkham and her husband, Frank of Georgetown, ME; and his sister-in-law Rina Watson of Barre Town as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Norman and Wendell Watson and his sister Betty Holden.
The graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at a later date to be announced in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
