MARSHFIELD – Helen E. MacDonald, 82, of Hollister Hill Road passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2019 at her home.
Born May 26, 1937 in Alexandria, VA, she was the daughter of Omar and Mosha Lampus. Helen attended local elementary schools and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Virginia.
She was employed as a Medical Secretary at the George Washington Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC.
On October 16, 1965 she married Renford B. MacDonald at the Greek Orthodox Church in Washington, DC where they made their home until they moved to their current residence in Marshfield.
Helen became a homemaker once she and Bruce settled in Vermont, tending to her home and raising her two daughters and when not busy with her family, she enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Survivors include her husband Renford MacDonald of Marshfield; and her daughters Kelly Kobbe and her husband, Rob of River Edge, NJ; and Samantha MacDonald of Montpelier; three grandchildren Raegan, Reilly, and Bailey as well as Lucy the dog, and Oscar the cat.
Helen was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Esther and Angie.
The graveside service to honor and celebrate Helen’s life was held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Eaton Cemetery in Marshfield. Rev. David Mulligan, Pastor of Christ Convenant Church led the service and offered the committal prayers. Vocalist Jason Mulligan sang the hymn, “Amazing Grace”.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
