WILLIAMSTOWN – Gustave Osterberg, 87, of Pirie Road passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.

Born on January 31, 1937, in Williamstown, he was the son of Gustave and Hildegard (Pallas) Osterberg, Sr.  Gus attended Foxville Elementary School and graduated from Williamstown High School in 1955.

On August 1956, he joined the Vermont Air National Guard and served as a Staff Sargeant – Air Police until he was discharged on June 9, 1960.

On February 20, 1960, he married Gail Robertson in Montpelier. Following their marriage, they made their home in Williamstown.

Gus was an Electronic Technician, before starting his own company’s Big O Amusements and Prism Video.

He was a member of the Summit Lodge of Masons #104 of Williamstown.

In his spare time, Gus enjoyed carnivals, watching movies and collecting clowns, although most of all he treasured time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Gail Robertson Osterberg; his daughter Janet Lynn (Osterberg) Hatch and her husband, Jonathan; his daughter-in-law Tammy Duprey; and his grandchildren Jessica Rose Hatch Freeman, Reneé Simoneau, Heather Osterberg and Joshua Duran Hatch as well as ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Leonard Alan Osterberg and his sister Patricia Osterberg.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wilson Cemetery in Lower Websterville. A time of fellowship will immediately follow at the Masonic Lodge, located at 111 Brush Hill Road in Williamstown. There are no calling hours.
