Obituary

WILLIAMSTOWN – Guitiana “Kay” Bulman Poirier, 82, a longtime resident of Williamstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born on January 31, 1944, in Mosheim, Texas, the daughter of Herman and Willie Mae Bulman. She attended local schools and graduated from Roswell High School in 1961 before attending nursing school in Denver, Colorado.

On July 7, 1962, Kay married David Poirier. The couple lived in Roswell, New Mexico, before moving to Williamstown, Vermont, where they raised their family.

During the younger years of her family, Kay was a devoted homemaker, caring for her five children and their home. Once her children were old enough to attend school, she began working as a medical office assistant for several local medical practices. She continued in that field until her retirement.

Kay was an active member of the Williamstown United Church, where she played piano for services for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, camping, taking trips to the casino, watching her grandchildren play sports, singing, playing the piano, and, most of all, spending time with her children and family.

Besides her parents, stepmother, and siblings, Kay was predeceased by her husband, David, in 2019.

She is survived by her five children, Susan Bernier and her husband, James; Debbie Watts and her husband, Larry; Nancy Poirier and her partner, Kevin Walbridge; Jeff Poirier and his wife, Amy; and Lauri Poirier and her husband, David Codling. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittany Gibbs and her husband, Nathan; Stephanie Reale and her husband, Michael; Dylan Watts and his partner, Mackenzie; Seth Poirier and his Partner, Emily; Trevor Arsenault; and Tanner Arsenault; her great-grandchildren, Emie and Lucas; two step-grandchildren, Hazen and Craig; and her sister-in-law, Gail Poirier. As well as several, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11: 00a.m at the Williamstown United Church with a burial to follow at the Williamstown Village Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday September 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m at the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Suite 1, Barre, VT.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s Miracle Network or the Williamstown United Church.
