DUXBURY – Gloria Lois Bedell, 77, of Main Street passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017, at her home with her loving family at her bedside.
Born March 2, 1939, Gloria was the daughter of Raymond and Marion (Flint) LaCoursere. Gloria attended elementary schools in Randolph and Chester and graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1957.
Gloria married Clinton Rodric Bedell on September 20, 1958, in Chester, VT. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Washington, DC Temple in November 1988. Following their marriage, they lived in Montpelier, Riverton, Braintree, Roxbury, Northfield, and Williamstown, finally settling in Duxbury.
Gloria was employed as a Stenographer for the State of Vermont, working in the Highway Department, Right-of-Way Division Federal Eisenhower Highway, and the Criminal Division for the Commissioner of Public Safety, the Commissioner of Aeronautics, and the Agency of Human Services and as a member of the Legislative Council services for the Legislature. She was also the owner and operator of Bedell’s Yankee Burger.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a primary teacher, and young women’s leader, as well as spending 2 years as a service missionary in family history and 2 years each on temple missions in Toronto and Montreal Canada.
Survivors include her husband, Clinton Bedell, Sr.; her children Clinton Bedell, Jr., of Michigan; Douglas Bedell of Williamstown; William Bedell of West Topsham; Cheryl Atherton and her husband, Chris of Bluff Dale, UT; and Timothy Bedell and his wife, Diana of Layton, UT; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her son Raymond Bedell, her great-grandson Logan Bedell and her sister Pearl Spafford.
A service to honor and celebrate Gloria’s life will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 244 Hersey Road, Berlin. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
