BARRE – Glendeen Jean Parizo, 93, a long-time Barre resident, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home that she shared with her daughter Glendeen R. Parizo, who was with her when she passed as well as her granddaughter Jennifer Campbell.

Born on January 22, 1933, in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Avery and Dorothy (Dodge) Cary.

In 1952, she married Bert S. Parizo and the two made their home in Montpelier where they raised their twelve children.

Glendeen was a homemaker. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, and talking about history. She enjoyed listening to country music, singing, and dancing, going out to eat – maple creemees and onion rings were some of her favorite foods. She was a very independent woman and over time she started to lose her eyesight which was very difficult for her.

Survivors include her children Alice Wright (Brian); Neil Parizo (Heather); Sandy Smith (Tony); Raymond Parizo; Linda Sumner (Bryce); Glendeen R. Parizo (companion Charles Hess); David Parizo (caregivers Barbara Davis and Fred Ramsburg); Grace Madden (Michael); Marie Parizo (Darryl Davis); and Dorothy Dow; her brothers and sisters Pauline Flanders, David Cary (Elke), Sandy Tavela (Ernie), Patricia Spinelli and Glenn Cary; and her 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren as well as her son-in-law Chris Santos, her brother-in-law Gary Chaloux, her cousin Nancy Guyett and her dear friend Annie Moran.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her children Carol Santos and Peter Parizo, two grandchildren Vince Gabaree, III, and Robert (Bobby) Smith, one great-grandchild Robert Chaplin and one great-great grandchild Harper Badger; her sister Sonya Chaloux, and her brother Willard Cary as well as her companion of many years, William Baldwin.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in Hope Cemetery in Waterbury in the Spring at the convenience of her family.
