BARRE – Glenda Giroux, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from Alzheimer’s.
Born on August 27, 1952, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of Homer and Helen (Mann) Morehouse, she grew up in Barre, VT and she graduated from Spaulding High School in 1970 as salutatorian of her class. Following high school, she worked at National Life for a short time and was a member of the National Guard for a few years in her early 20s. She worked at Granite City Tool for almost 40 years before retiring in 2017. She was also a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Berlin, VT for 40 plus years, beginning in approximately 1978.
Glenda was extremely smart and witty, and was known for her fastidiousness, perfectionism and uncanny math ability. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and son-in-law, accompanying them to most family activities over the years. She took great joy in playing with her grandchildren and was a devoted daughter to her aging parents before their passing. She enjoyed history and loved animals, as well as gardening and cooking. She loved taking long drives to explore new places and see new sights
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her. Glenda was inspirational to them, setting a high standard for all that she did. She was devoted and caring and was always up for the everyday event with them, or the biggest adventure! She evaluated all situations in life with an analytical and empathetic perspective.
Glenda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tony Fletcher, and her grandson Taylor Fletcher, all of Richmond, VT; her sister and brother-in-law, Caramay and Jeff Ralabate, of Underhill, VT and her three nephews Vance Gaudette, Mark Gaudette, and Kevin Gaudette and their families, all located in VT.
In addition to her parents, Glenda was predeceased by her brother Wayne Morehouse, and her grandson Brady Blow.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hooker Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. Family and friends may call at 11:00 a.m., until the time of the service.
