Gerard Badeau

BARRE – Gerard “Oscar” Badeau, 60, of Orchard Street passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the UVM Medical Center with his family at his bedside.

Born June 1, 1959 in Barre City, he was the son of Philorum and Delvina Badeau. He attended St. Monica Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1977.

On August 13, 1983 he married Gina Plante in the St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre.

Gerard was employed by the granite industry, a local roofing company - LD Hutchins Roofing, and Farrell Distributing before becoming a subcontractor for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired from after thirty years of service.

He was a member of the St. Monica Catholic Church. In his leisure time, he liked watching and playing hockey and was a fan of the Stanley Cup Champions, the St. Louis Blues. He enjoyed watching tv – the Weather Channel, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and the Young and the Restless. Although most of all, he thoroughly enjoyed hanging out and having fun with his family and friends. You would always find him with a smile on his face and a beer in his hand and a heart full of love. He would do anything for the people that he loved and he wasn’t afraid to give a hug or two.

Survivors include his wife, Gina Badeau of Barre; his daughter Lindsey Ducey and her husband, Shawn and their son, Mavrick; his son Brandon Badeau; and his brothers and sisters Victor, Richard, Leonard, Edgar, Hector, Edward, Gaspor, Theodore, Cecile, Germaine, Rejeanne and Irene and their respective spouses as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Madeline and his brother Bernard.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
