BARRE CITY – Gerald L. “Jerry” Dudley, 78, of Washington Street, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born December 26, 1940 to Brandon C. and Edna (Belville) Dudley in Bethel, VT. He married the love of his life, Bernice Chartier, on May 30, 1963 in Montpelier and they have always resided in Barre.

Jerry, a hard worker, was an auto mechanic and petroleum equipment mechanic before establishing his own business, Jerry Dudley’s Auto Connection.

Jerry was an avid sports fan, coaching his son’s baseball teams from Pony through Little League. He continued with “Sideline” coaching and was a huge fan and presence at all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed Red Sox baseball, NASCAR, Bruins hockey, and especially the many deer hunting trips to Pennsylvania and Iowa with his son and brother, Tim.

His greatest enjoyments in life were spending time with his family, joking and laughing, and dancing with his wife. His proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, as well as running a successful family business.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, his daughters Carol Fuller and her husband, Carl, of Barre Town, Ann Atkins and her significant other, Scott Brown, of Woodbury, and his son Robert and wife, Tammi, of Barre Town. He is also survived by four grandchildren – Justin Martin and his wife, Brittany, of Winooski, Emily Atkins and her significant other, Kyle Day, of Barre Town and Randy and Evan Dudley both of Barre Town. His first great-grandchild, a boy, is due in July.

Jerry is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Ford and Donna Scalabrini of Barre; three brothers John of Morrisville, Timothy of Ankeny, Iowa and Steve of Barre as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother William Dudley and his nephew Jeffrey Ford.

In respect to Jerry’s wishes there will be no services. He will be laid to rest in Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town at the convenience of the family on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
