George Everett Clark

EAST BARRE – George Everett Clark, 71, of East Cobble Hill Road, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Born on August 11, 1943 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of George A. and Gertrude (Savage) Clark. He attended schools in Massachusetts. George was a veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Following his marriage to Linda Mae Plant, they made their home in Graniteville before moving to East Barre.
In earlier years, George worked as a long distance truck driver, on the railroad maintaining the rails and rail beds, as a carpet installer, for Ray’s Mobile Homes doing site preparations, and as a landscaper for the former Boulevard Gardens, both on the Barre Montpelier Road. For over thirty years, he worked for Rock of Ages in Graniteville as a quarry man until his retirement. Most recently, he worked for local car dealers as a driver.
George was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed camping at Tickle Naked Pond in Ryegate. In earlier years, his interests included hunting and being in the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Clark of East Barre; his children, Vickie Lyons, Katie Palmer, Brian Aubuchon, and Eric Clark; two grandchildren, Jessica Santos and McKenzie Hutchinson; a great-grandson, Jameson Farley; several half-sisters, including Gerry Columbia, and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, a brother and a sister predeceased him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place at a later date in the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier.
