Francis Wilkin

BARRE – Francis Wilkin, 83, a longtime resident of Hill Street, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Born on June 26, 1943, at Barre City Hospital, Francis was the son of John and Cecile (Beaulieu) Wilkin. He attended local schools and graduated from Spaulding High School before joining the U.S. Army in 1962. Francis served at Fort Hood, Texas, as well as in Korea and Germany, until his honorable discharge on August 26, 1965.

On June 3, 2005, Francis married his wife, Susan, at Wells Beach in Maine.

Francis was employed by Central Vermont Medical Center for more than 34 years as a biomedical technician. He retired from CVMC in 2003 and went on to work for himself repairing antique clocks.

He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and the Mutuo Club in Barre. Francis also enjoyed coaching youth hockey and took great pride in sharing his love of the sport with young players, including coaching his sons. In his free time, Francis enjoyed biking, snowboarding, hiking, sailing, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling.

Francis leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Wilkin; his sons, Brian and his wife, Lisa, and Greg and his wife, Tara; his daughter, Kristin Aja; and his grandchildren, Nick Aja, Chantel Wilkin Broderick and her husband, Connor, Caitlyn Wilkin, and Chase Wilkin. He is also survived by his brother, Tom and his wife, Rita; sister-in-law, Celia Wilkin; brother-in-law, Scott Goodwin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Karen Wilkin; his brothers, John and James Wilkin; and his parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local food pantry in Francis’ memory, helping provide food and support to those in need.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11:00a.m at Hope Cemetery in Barre.
