WILLIAMSTOWN – Florence R. Winters, 81, of Pleasant Street passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
Florence and her twin sister, Frances, were born on April 22, 1936, to the late Alfred and Carrie (Bacon) Robinson of Post Mills. Frances died in infancy.
She attended elementary school in Post Mills and graduated from Thetford Academy in 1954. Following graduation, she attended Lyndon State College and graduated in 1958 with a B.S. degree in teaching. She was a teacher at Williamstown Elementary School for 25 years.
On June 24, 1962 Florence married Milo Winters in Post Mills. They shared 55 years together and raised three daughters.
She was a long-time member of the United Federated Church of Williamstown where she was the Choir Director and organist for many years as well as participating in the annual Chicken Pie Supper, was a member of the WUCS and was instrumental in the restoration of the Church’s pipe organ. She was also an Ainsworth Public Library Trustee for 25 years, as well as participating in the Happy Moments Club.
Survivors include her husband Milo of Williamstown; daughter Donna Wilder and her husband, Jonathan of Williamstown; daughter Susan Gagné and her husband, Brent and their son Christian of Barre; and daughter Julie McKinstry and her husband, Patrick and their children Carrie and Andrew of Worcester; her sister Nina Stewart of Castine, ME; and her brother Kenneth Robinson of Fairlee; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by her parents, twin sister Frances and sister Rose.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, in the Williamstown United Federated Church, Main Street, Williamstown. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.
