WASHINGTON - Eva (Tremblay) Beede, 89, passed away just shy of her 90th birthday on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Barre Gardens where she had become a recent resident.
Born on May 27, 1934, in Barre City, the oldest child of Ulric, Sr. and Louisa (Vermette) Tremblay. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1952.
On November 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Lawrence (Buddy) Beede and they raised their family in Washington.
Eva loved the Town of Washington and was as involved as she could be in town meeting every year. She received the Citizen of the Year Award in 2017 and in 2023 the Washington Historical Society honored Eva for her devotion to the preservation of the history of Washington. She belonged to the Ladies Home Dem and the Friendly Circle Club. Eva loved to golf, bowl, knit and there was rarely a time when she wasn’t walking. Many would remember her as the “cake lady” making numerous cakes over the years.
Survivors include her children and spouses Rose (Brent) Benoit and Lynn (Joe) Lajeunesse and daughter-in-law Amelda Beede; her grandchildren and spouses Nichole Benoit, Brenda (Richard) Stone, Louise (Chris) Keane, Rachel Benoit, Reanna (Chris) Perry, Mitchell (Ashlie) Beede and Maisie Lajeunesse; her great-grandchildren Kylee, Carter and Natalie Stone, Alex and Jaxon Keane, Sydnie Jay, Alana (Isaiah) Mabon and Sabrina Perry; her great-great grandchildren Thomas Mabon and his sister who is due in September; and her sister Rose Tremblay and brothers Ulric Tremblay, Jr., and Ernest Tremblay as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and her son Marc Beede as well as her nephews Donald and Michael Beaucage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre. Following the service, inurnment will take place in the St. Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers and since Lincoln House was a special place Eva called home for five years, memorial contributions may be made towards the care and needs of the residents to Lincoln House, 120 Hill Street, Barre, Vermont, 05641.
