WASHINGTON – Eugene A. Wilmott, 74, of West Corinth Road, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Central Vermont Medical Center from unknown causes.
Born on July 17, 1949, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, he was the son of Lenwood Ronald and Viola Belle (LaFlore) Wilmott.
He attended Washington Village School and Spaulding High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving as an E5 in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged.
Eugene settled in Washington upon his return from the service and started his working career. He first owned his own logging business, Wilmott Logging and then he became employed by McCullough Construction, Pike Industries, Bellavance and Sons, Newtons and most recently Barrett’s Trucking. He loved driving tractor trailer trucks as well as tinkering in his garage – always something to do he said.
On August 14, 2020, he married Tricia Moloney in Washington. Following their marriage, they made their home in Washington.
In his spare time, Eugene enjoyed watching westerns on tv daily, helping others always, cooking on the grill for various functions at the VFW – his home away from home, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles – attending bike week in Laconia, NH, toy runs, and riding the Kancamagus Highway.
Survivors include his wife Tricia Wilmott and his brother David Lee Wilmott and his wife, Cindy of Lunenburg and Judith Boise of North Carolina as well as his comrades in service and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Dean and Joel Wilmott.
The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at noon in the VFW Post #790, East Barre. Following the service there will be a chicken BBQ in his memory. Inurnment will take place at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center at a later date.
