Eugene C. Harvey, Iii

BARRE TOWN – Eugene C. “Bill” Harvey, III, 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield with family by his side.

Born on March 4, 1931, in Duxbury, he was the son of Eugene C. and Eunice (Bettis) Harvey, Jr. He attended school in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury High School in 1949. After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served four years and was honorably discharged in 1953. He later served in the National Guard.

Bill had several jobs but worked for Bates and Murray Electrical Contractors for 34 years. He obtained his Master Electrician degree while working for them and retired in 2005.

In 1952, Bill married Margaret Tassie, and they had one son, Bill Gerrish born September 13, 1952. On May 23, 1959, he married Brenda Bartlett, and they had two children. Peter was born on September 7, 1968, and Melissa was born on September 21, 1970.

Survivors include his son Bill Gerrish and his wife, Terri of Berlin and his daughter Melissa and her husband, Gary of Northfield, his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as his brother Burley Harvey and his wife, Linda of Florida and his sister Marlene and her husband, Ron of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Brenda, his son Peter, his brothers Robert and Bradley and his sisters Betty and Beverly.

The service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of his family.
