BARRE – Ethelma Lottie Lowry, “Sukie”, 82, formerly of Elliston Street, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.
Born November 12, 1933 in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of Albert Joseph and Ethel Beatrice (Warnes) Doucette. She attended elementary school at Ward 5 in Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1951.
On May 6, 1972, Ethelma married Richard F. Lowry in Barre. They lived on Elliston Street. Her husband died in April of 1995.
Ethelma first worked in the office at North Barre Granite Company and later was a telephone operator for New England Bell for ten years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed time spent with her family.
She enjoyed being outdoors, music, flowers, dance, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her daughters, Crystal Ann Sayers and her fiancé, Kevin Williams of East Montpelier and Ethelma Ida Lowry of Williamstown; her grandchildren Michael Morse, Cody and Randy Sayers, and Kaitlyn Ribera; her great-grandchildren Devon Morse and Skylar Sayers; her brother, William Doucette and his wife, Elfi of North Richland Hills, TX; as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Her parents and her husband predeceased her.
Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre. There are no calling hours.
