Born on March 24, 1947, to Marion and Richard Kreis, Chub was a lifelong resident of Central Vermont, the place he called home throughout his life. On May 1, 1998, he married Shirley VanArsdale, and together they shared many wonderful years. Chub and Shirley made their home in Graniteville, Vermont, where they shared their life together.
One of Chub’s greatest joys was bringing his family together for meals and gatherings. He treasured having everyone around the table, sharing food, conversation, laughter, and stories.
Chub is survived by his wife, Shirley Kreis; his children, Brad, Curt, Rodney, and Sara; Shirley’s children, Karen, Danny, Diana, Sharon, and Jody; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Lisa Kreis and Roxie Weber, along with his extended family and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Richard Kreis; his sister, Miriam Hill; his brother, Henry Kreis; and his stepdaughter, Tammy Hutchins.
Chub’s love for his family will live on through the generations he leaves behind and the many stories and memories they will continue to share.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made in Chub’s name to the Central Vermont Humane Society.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 11: 00a.m at Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town.
