Elizabeth J. Taylor

BARRE – Elizabeth Jane Taylor, 84, a former resident of Bolton Valley passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Barre Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born August 5, 1936 in Spencer, MA, she was the daughter of Robert D. and Marion (Samson) Taylor.

Elizabeth graduated from David Prouty High School in 1954 attended American International College and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1960.   After college, she taught elementary school in New Hampshire, Florida, and Vermont.  Retiring in 1996 from Jericho Elementary School in Jericho Vt.

She was a member of the Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cross country skiing, and the ocean at Ogunquit, ME.  Elizabeth enjoyed Vermont’s scenery, especially the mountains at Bolton Valley.  She had a special relationship with a dog, Brandy.

Elizabeth taught at Jericho Elementary for 28 years encouraging the love of learning as well as good citizenship in her students.  Because of her dedication to teaching she was respected by students, parents, and administration.

Survivors include her brother Robert D. Taylor, DVM and his wife, Judy of Cornish, NH; as well as Barbara Taylor (sister-in-law), one nephew and three nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Laurence.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at the convenience of her family at Fairview Cemetery in Bridgewater, NY.
