BARRE – Eleanor A. Fraser, 94, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at her home at Lincoln House in Barre.  She had been a long-time resident of Brook Street.

Born on December 12, 1930, in Barre, she was the daughter of Peter and Marion (Bartlett) Fraser. She attended local elementary schools and graduated from Spaulding High School with the class of 1948.

She started her working career at a local movie theater before she joined the staff at Smith, Whitcomb, and Cook as a bookkeeper.

Eleanor was a member of the Barre Presbyterian Church and the Barre Senior Center. She volunteered at the State House and Central Vermont Medical Center gift shops and helped various non-profits with mailings over the years and was also a volunteer usher at the Barre Opera House. She was also a very active member of the reunion committee for the SHS Class of 1948.

In her spare time, she liked to vacation and travel with her friends, Maine being a favorite place. She enjoyed Saturday night dinners out with her friends and was a member of a bowling league for many years.  She cherished any time  spent with her family and enjoyed gatherings at her nephews’ camp in Marshfield.

Survivors include her nephews Ronald (Betty) Gingras, Peter (Candi) Gingras, Charles (Ruth) Terbush, Bill Fraser, and Scott Fraser, her nieces Barbara (Neil) Russell and Cindy (Bryan) Campbell as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn Gingras and Marion Carri and her brothers Bill Fraser and Arthur Fraser.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be announced in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln House Van Fund, 120 Hill Street, Barre, VT  05641.

The family would like to thank Sarah Rowan and her wonderful staff at Lincoln House for the loving care their aunt received. They would also like to thank Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice for the care and support they provided.
