South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON – Elaine Zampieri Spargo, formerly of Wildflower Drive passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Arbors in Shelburne, VT with her family by her side.

Born Elaine Regina Zampieri on August 14, 1939, at Mayo Memorial Hospital in Northfield, Vermont.  She was the daughter of Tullio Zampieri and Annette Bernadette (Lariviere) Zampieri.  With the birth of her younger sister, Cynthia their mother passed away on November 14, 1941.   Her father, Tullio, married Yvette Gagne and she raised these two girls and together they had seven more children.

Elaine attended Barre City Schools and Spaulding High School and later attended Sacred Heart High School in Derby, VT where she graduated in 1957.

On November 29, 1958, she married Philip J. Spargo, Jr. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre City.  Following their marriage, they made their home on the Barre Montpelier Road before moving to Hinesburg where they lived for many years, eventually settling in South Burlington.  She and Philip were so proud of having designed and supervised the building of their South Burlington home.  They wintered in Dunedin, FL for some 25-years selling their condo only four years ago.

Elaine worked for the Hinesburg School system in their cafeteria for a few years, although she was mostly a homemaker.  She was very creative and crafty with her beautiful, crocheted Afghans and knitted dishcloths and sweaters.   She made beautiful ceramics and Christmas trees and even made things for family members.  Elaine and Phil did not have any children but Elaine’s many younger sisters were almost like their children.

Survivors include her mother Yvette Zampieri and her siblings, Paul Zampieri, Thomas Zampieri (Kathy), Debra Fisher (David), Janet Zampieri (Patrick Sterling), Susan Britto, Tina Bisson (Mark) and Lisa Redmond (Terry).

She was predeceased by her wonderful husband Philip on January 27, 2023, her father Tullio and biological mother, Annette Zampieri and her sister Cynthia Gingras and brother-in-law Armand Gingras and infant brother, Ricky Zampieri.

The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held in the Spring at a date and time to be announced.  There will be no calling hours.
