BARRE – Elaina Marie O’Neill, 59, of Richardson Road passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin with her family at her bedside.
Born May 30, 1959 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Victor E. and Pauline H. (Fernette) Murray. She completed elementary school in Shelburne and graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School.
On September 19, 1981 she married David M. O’Neill. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre.
Elaina was a homemaker and loved art – drawing and coloring, and writing poetry. She had a special fondness for her cats and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, David O’Neill of Barre; her daughters Elizabeth Alverson and her husband, Jeremy of Highpoint, NC and Rebecca O’Neill and her son Tyrone of Baltimore, MD, and her son Travis of Barre, VT; her siblings Michael Murray and his wife, Barb of Grand Isle, VT; Anthony Murray and his wife, Charlene of Levittown, PA; Sharon O’Neill and her husband, Christopher of Milton, VT; and Rebecca Sager and her husband, Benjamin of Fredericksburg, VA as well as ten nephews, six nieces and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Heather O’Neill; her sister Kathlene Murray and her nephew Patrick Murray.
The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, PO Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601-0687.
