MORETOWN – Edward H. Lee, 86, a longtime resident of River Road, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

Born in Duxbury on April 16, 1932, he was the son of Elmer and Lena Lee.

Following his schooling he joined the United States Army, where he served with distinction in the 11 th Airborne Division before being honorably discharged.

In 1953 he married Jolene Siler, in Barre.  The couple made their home in Barre before moving to Moretown in 1993.

Edward began his career in 1954 delivering bread and baked goods for the Sunbeam Bread Company and later worked for Keebler, Hills Brothers Coffee and Nestle, before retiring in 1993.

Throughout his life he had many hobbies and interests, but the most important were fishing, writing poetry, playing his guitar, and gardening.  He attended the Websterville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene Lee; a daughter Kathy Couture and her husband, Ron of Barre and three grandchildren, Courtland Couture of California; Jacob Couture and his wife, Kirstin, and their children, Rowyn and Declan of Woburn, MA; and Kelsey Trepanier and her husband, Jake, of East Burke.   He also leaves a special cousin, Roger Gonyea of Williamstown and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Debra, and three brothers, Roland, Daniel and Andrew.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Edward’s life will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery in Barre, on Friday June 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
