PLAINFIELD – Edward “Ed” Andress, 59, a lifetime resident of Plainfield, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.
Born on March 30, 1964, in Barre, he was the son of Romaine and DeEtte (Batchelder) Andress. He was raised on his family farm on East Hill and attended Twinfield elementary and high school.
Ed was known for his many nicknames, including Eddie, Edar, Edastaire, and Chef boy Eddie. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years before he joined Copping Construction where he worked for more than 20 years and as more than an employee, but as a good friend. For the last four years he worked for Kevin Rand Construction, where he made many more friends.
In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and tracker and enjoyed time at deer camp teaching the youth about hunting as well as fishing. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR racing as well as motorcycle drag racing with one of his lifelong best friends Dale Bickford. He also enjoyed attending the races at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford. Above all he enjoyed spending time with family.
The light of his life and greatest accomplishment was his daughter, Kaitlyn Andress. Not only his daughter, but one of his best friends. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together – including youth hunting, fishing in Newport, and watching races in Bradford, where they bet on cars.
Survivors include his fiancé of 23 years, Allyson Holt; his daughter Kaitlyn Andress and her best friend and partner, Bradley Duke; his brother and best friend, Doug Andress and his stepmother Edith Andress as well as his brothers Andy and Steve Andress; his sister Debi Perry; as well as his brother and sister-in-law Alan (Heather) and Peggy Holt. In addition to Morgan Renz, who he considered a daughter and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews including, but not limited to Lucas and Ashley Andress, Destiny Andress, Kelsey and Evan Perry, Dianna Tetreault, Frances Watson, Juliana Watson, Josh Chouinard and wife, Kate, Jacob Chouinard and wife Brittany, Jordyn Holt, Krystin Holt, and two new joys of his life, Levi and Lydia.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Clifton Andress; sister Delia Watson; and his uncle Stanley Batchelder as well as several other uncles and an aunt; his niece, Sheri Watson and his grandparents.
